Hunters Face Reduction in Deer Tags

Oregon hunters today, are learning that the Department of Fish and Wildlife is reducing tag numbers for four controlled deer hunts for the 2022 hunting season. The official wording can be found in the Oregon Big Game Regulations. One of the reasons cited is the continued decline of mule deer populations in some areas. Interstate deer tags are also being reduced in several hunts because of habitat impacts and access closures due to last year’s wildfire activity, ongoing drought conditions, and poor fawn recruitment.
