Oregon Church Leaders Show Support for Pelosi Communion Ban

After the San Francisco archbishop barred U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from receiving Communion because of Pelosi’s stance on abortion, some church leaders here in Oregon are now in agreeance. Portland’s Catholic Archbishop Alexander Sample on Friday came out in support of the decision in a video message that was posted on Facebook. Pelosi’s support for abortion caused San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone to notify her in a public letter that she would no longer be allowed to receive Holy Communion in the diocese until she publicly repudiates her “advocacy for the legitimacy of abortion.”
